HNT Medical, Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripter 'Urostone' Receives KFDA Certification

Efficient treatment possible, including shortening the treatment time for urinary stones compared to existing ones

HNT Medical (CEO Jeong Jae-hak), a company specializing in extracorporeal shock wave lithotripters, announced that the extracorporeal shock wave lithotripter (ESWL) UROSTONE received medical device approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety.

The new product UROSTONE is a medical device that adopts the EM (electromagnetic) method for urinary stone treatment. It is an extracorporeal shock wave lithotripter (ESWL) equipment equipped with new technologies such as the first domestic 10-directional (5-axis) electric table, respiratory-linked shock wave generator, ultrasound guide arm, and digital FPD (Flat Panel Detector).

HNT Medical is a specialized medical device manufacturer for extracorporeal shock wave therapy. Since its establishment in 2004, it has been working on domestic technology, including registering seven patents related to extracorporeal shock wave therapy. It has also succeeded in developing products such as the first EH-type and EM-type shock wave therapy (ESWT) and integrated and artificial intelligence (AI) shock wave lithotripter (ESWL) in Korea, and recently received recognition as a new medical technology from the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

UROSTONE enables efficient treatment, such as shortening the treatment time for urinary stones by about 30% compared to existing products.

An official from HNT Medical said, "UROSTONE is a new product launched on the market through years of research and development with Seoul National University Hospital and others. It is the first domestic lithotripter to provide an optimized treatment position and shorten the treatment time by about 30% with precise targeting, allowing for safe and efficient treatment." He added, "Through collaboration with 'urodot AI' product from AI (artificial intelligence) specialist 'Idot', we plan to secure competitiveness in the domestic and international lithotripter market and contribute to innovation in the treatment of urinary stones patients." Meanwhile, HNT Medical has supplied more than 1,000 medical devices to major domestic hospitals and clinics based on its technological prowess and is also strengthening its overseas market strategy by exporting to 21 countries.
