HNT Medical, 'Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy' Recognized as New Medical Technology
"
Pain Treatment for Patients through EM (Electro-magnetic) Method UROWAVE
HNT Medical recently announced on the 22nd that it received a new medical technology notification from the Korea Evidence-based Healthcare Collaborating Agency (NECA) and the Ministry of Health and Welfare based on the safety and efficacy evaluation results for low-power extracorporeal shock wave therapy for non-inflammatory chronic pelvic pain syndrome using its extracorporeal shock wave therapy device.
The technology notified as a new medical technology through this new medical technology evaluation is an EM (Electro-magnetic) method extracorporeal shock wave technology that applies extracorporeal shock waves to the perineum of patients with non-inflammatory chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CPPS type IIIb) to relieve pain.
The New Medical Technology Assessment System was introduced in 2007 to evaluate the safety and clinical usefulness of new medical technologies. It is a system implemented to prevent the indiscriminate use of unverified medical technologies and protect the people's right to health. Technologies that have been reviewed and approved by the New Medical Technology Assessment Committee are notified through the Ministry of Health and Welfare's administrative notice.
An official from HNT Medical said, "This new medical technology recognition is a meaningful event that has allowed the treatment of patients' pain through UROWAVE, the safest and most effective EM (Electromagnetic) method among the extracorporeal shock wave technologies so far, to be recognized within the system.
